HIV Prevention
HIV is said to be a disease which can't be treated but it can be prevented. If one obeys the following rules there is hardly any chance of getting the virus.
While having sex outside the monogamous relationship, one should always use condoms, Copper-T's which prevent the virus present in the semen of an infected person to pass to the other.
While blood transfusion, one should make sure that the blood is coming from the blood bank and is tested. Though this is not the case now, since it is compulsion in all the blood banks to test them for all types of blood borne diseases.
Mother to child transmission can be prevented by the use of anti retroviral drugs available in the market or at government run hospitals. Mother to child transmission can occur during pregnancy, delivery as well as because of breast feeding the child. The preventive measures are the antiretroviral drugs which reduces the transmission of hiv to the baby by 50%. During delivery caesarean is preferred to avoid the bodily fluids getting in contact with the child. Even there are options to avoid breast feeding the child.
